Course Description

This course is designed to provide fundamental knowledge regarding child traumatic stress, including knowledge related to the types of traumatic events, traumatic reactions and the neurophysiology of trauma. This course provides information regarding the cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral impact of trauma on children and adolescents. The course provides insight into the ways in which trauma may manifest in the classroom as well as techniques for managing the emotional manifestation of trauma in the educational setting.

What are the requirements?

The requirements of this course include a working knowledge of childhood development.

What am I going to get from this course?

This course will provide foundational knowledge regarding childhood traumatic stress. This knowledge will assist the participant in understanding childhood traumatic stress, managing social, emotional and behavioral reactions of children impacted by trauma and ultimately providing a trauma-informed educational environment.

This course is intended for teachers, administrators and staff working with children or adolescents. This course is also intended for mental health providers who work in an educational setting.
